Reviewing hamburger style!!

What a fun way to review for our math mastery check! For every correct answer on the review sheet the kids put down a layer of their hamburger. The students who built their burgers first won a McDonald's Happy Meal ! courtesy of our wonderful Shearer PTO! This was so much fun that for once, I couldn't get everyone quiet because they were working and wondering why wrong answers were wrong and delighting in right answers building up their hamburgers. This game was a free down load from Nicole Shelby over at www.teachingwithblondeambition.blogspot.com. Thank you Nicole and our awesome Shearer PTO!

Active Engagement

This is one of the most hectic times of the day but it is certainly one of our faves! Writing on the desk at math time!! Today was a table contest to see which tables could produce the most 5 digit numbers AND put them in ascending order. The prize...CANDY!! All of my students are actively engaged and quietly working!

Our classroom library...,

I'm SSSSOOOOO proud of this place! It's organized first by genre and each book is labeled with its guided reading level. Kiddos can choose books that are appropriate for their reading levels and geared to their interests. However, I can't take but about 10% of the credit for this glorious creation. I bought the baskets. Thanks first to God for the means to buy these books and baskets and then thanks to Debbie Carter for leveling each book in this library. This is one if my favorite places in our classroom!

Welcome!

This is my first time doing a blog!  I hope this is a living blog which will be consistently updated and made better as I get better and more creative!  I love to learn new things and since I have become a pinterest junkie, I have set a goal to create an awesomely cute but usable blog for my students, parents and fellow teachers far and wide!
